Follow these steps to prevent a program from loading automatically when the computer is started using theTask Managerutility.

WARNING: Because some applications are critical to the startup process, disabling them using theTask Managerutility could cause system instability.

1. Press theWindows Logo + Xkey combination on the keyboard and, from the list, clickTask Manager.
   

   NOTES:

   • You can also access theTask Managerby pressing theCTRL+ALT+DELETEkey combination on the keyboard and clicking theTask Manageroption.
   • Whatever way you access theTask Manager, because it is a traditional Windows Desktop application, if you were not already there, the interface will change to the Desktop and theTask Managerwindow will open.
2. In theTask Managerwindow, click theStartuptab.
3. On theStartuptab, click the application you wish to prevent from loading automatically and then click theDisablebutton.
   

   NOTES:

   • If there is a problem when the computer starts, an application listed in theStartup impactcolumn asHigh or Mediumis more likely to be the reason for the problem than those listed asLow, Not Measured or None.
   • If the application has already been disabled, there will be anEnablebutton instead of aDisablebutton.
   • You can also right-click an application to see additional options for that application.
